Corsica – the wild and romantic island in the Mediterranean
I have Corsican fever. Ever since my first visit in 2013. There is no cure in sight. After 12 years, I have finally chosen this beautiful Mediterranean island as my adopted home. And I’m really looking forward to it!
The most mountainous island in the Mediterranean with the highest elevation, Monte Cinto 2706 m
Corsica, which lies to the north of Sardinia and is the most mountainous island in the Mediterranean, has never let go of me in my thoughts, in my heart, when I have left it again. And now finally the decision to “settle down” in Balagne (in the northwest near Calvi). The little bird had been fledged for a long time, was looking for a home and has now found one. Why Corsica? Of course, because of the many high mountains, the crystal blue sea, the wild beauty and the beautiful wildness. For the sake of love – to the island! This variety of vegetation and nature, the scent, the splendor of flowers in spring, summer, autumn and winter…

Belonging to France since 1769 with Italian influence
Corsica has belonged to France since 1769. I fell in love with France at the very moment when our French twin city was a guest at the Christmas market in my home town. The moment Guillaume, the cheese maker with his beret, slid the liquid raclette cheese onto the crispy baguette bread at the Christmas market, I was hooked: J’adore la France! At secondary school, I naturally chose French as my second foreign language and then studied cultural economics with French as an optional subject at university. I did my bachelor’s degree in French linguistics, but I only really learned to speak in… Corsica. I really wanted to practise French after graduating in 2013 and “get out after my studies” and applied to be a hiking guide at Frosch Sportreisen for the destination Corsica. After the summer season it was clear: I’m coming back! And so I spent several months on the island every year and was lucky enough to explore it on foot with my guests.

The Corsicans are peculiar and yet lovable
At that time, I didn’t want to settle here permanently. The Corsicans are considered to be very independent, want to keep to themselves, social contacts are not easy for a single woman. There are no jobs in winter as this is a summer destination and finding an apartment for the whole year is very difficult as people earn more money by renting out their apartments to tourists. And it is and remains an island, the journey is long and arduous, the prices are correspondingly high, the cultural offerings are limited and island sickness is inevitable. But times change and so do I and my needs and after 2 consecutive years of covering for my friend on her vacation as a yoga teacher in November, I learned to love life out of season as well. The nature, the peace, my energy places, the mild climate in winter, my new contacts… I got to know many corners of the island through hiking tours and round trips with various agencies(Rhomberg Reisen, Wikinger Reisen, ASI, Feriendorf Zum Störrischen Esel, Ferienhotel Maristella and others) and on my own, but Balagne is my favorite region with its rugged coasts, beautiful sandy beaches, crystal-clear rivers, untouched nature and nearby mountains. I love speaking French and passing on my love of the island to my guests. This is where my heart beats, this is where I live a healthy life. Now it’s time to live my happiness here and benefit from the beauty.

Always worth a trip
I look forward to welcoming you here and discovering some beautiful places with you. Yoga classes on the beach and my mobile massage will also be part of my program. On the Ile de Beauté – the island of beauty!
